June Cornwell Stone, Chairman of the World War I Index Project, will present a brief history and timeline of the war that was dubbed the “War to End All Wars.” She will explain the purpose and process of the Oklahoma Genealogical Society Project to compile an index of the soldiers with Oklahoma connections who served in World War I. Highlights of the program will be the available sources at the federal, state, and local level as well as what is available on the internet.

June ‘s interest in this war started when she discovered her father’s leggings, helmet, gas mask, dog tags, and photo album with post cards from Paris. The thought of her very quiet father participating in the very events she studied in school fascinated her and his reluctance to talk about it led to her search for details.

She is an active member of several lineage societies including DAR, Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars, Daughters of 1812, and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She currently serves as President of the Home and Community Education Genealogy Group, teaches the Legacy genealogy program at the Computer Club of Oklahoma City, is a Board Member of United Scottish Clans of Oklahoma, and volunteers at the Oklahoma Historical Society Research Library. She currently serves on the Oklahoma Genealogical Society Board of Directors as Membership Chairman.
