If you have great grandmother that seems to disappear from the family in 1880’s central Texas, she may have been a member of the Women’s Commonwealth of Texas, also known as, The Sanctificationist of Belton, Texas.

This was one of the earliest women’s rights groups, and used the Femme Sole law to advance their cause. Mr. Meyers will relate the story of a member’s daughter who led researchers on quite a chase before all her descendants could be tracked down.

A professional genealogist for 18 years, and an avid researcher for 28 years, Mr. Meyers brings knowledge of social sciences, history, genealogy and some private investigator techniques to his work.

A graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in history, Kelvin was a staff member of the Dallas Public Library Genealogy section for ten years. He has been a student and now is a lecturerr at the notable Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) of Samford University.

The Dallas Public Library employed him for 10 years in the Genealogy Department. Now, he contracts with attorneys and banking firms searching for missing or unknown heirs to estates. In January 2007 he was appointed Chairman of the Archives and History Committee for First United Methodist Church, Dallas, TX. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and currently serves as President of the Lone Star Chapter of the APG.
