Look-up Assistance

OGS provides a look-up service to assist you in your Oklahoma and Indian Territory research. OGS volunteers have access to the repository of historical and genealogical records at the Oklahoma History Center.

The charge for this service is $25 for the first hour which includes postage and up to five photocopies.  Additional time is $20 per hour and additional copies are charged at cost. You may arrange for this service by mail or online using your credit card for payment.

When requesting assistance please provide specific information regarding the information desired (obituaries, land records, Dawes index, etc.), the name of the individual, the date or estimated date if unknown, and the location.

Oklahoma does not have a publicly accessible statewide birth, death, or marriage index. However, material has been collected for some counties and is available to us for look-up. Some tribal marriage records are also available. The History Center has an extensive collection of microfilmed Oklahoma newspapers. Newspaper search requests should include date and location of event.

You may order birth and death certificates directly from OSHD by visiting this link to their website at Oklahoma State Department of Health.

Marriage certificates may be ordered from Clerk of Court in the county of issuance.  Addresses may be found using this link to County Courthouses.

Please send mail requests for assistance including a $25 payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope for the first hour with your request to:
